Assignment 1: Create your own Weebly
Each of you will create your own website to use throughout the 2104 course, as well as the 3104 course.
Go to Weebly and sign up!
Be sure to use an email address that you can actually check (for example, I use [email protected], which is my work email and I can sign in and check my emails)
DO NOT add in a mobile phone number for notifications since you do not have cell phone reception. This will cause problems if you are having difficulty signing in.
Save your login information by writing it in your iPod notes, saving it on a word file on your account or putting it on a sticky note on your desktop.
Follow the steps as they appear on the screen. Ask your teacher if there is something you are uncertain of.
In order to SAVE your website you must click publish in the top right hand corner of the screen.

- Show evidence of research (2 mark)
- Conclusion (1 mark)

For our comm tech class, we will submit 15 pictures to the Labrador Creative Arts Festival.
Step 1: Gathering Pictures
- take a minimum of 3 pictures on your own time from around the community
- pictures must relate to the theme of COMING HOME or CELEBRATION
- pictures can be of people, events and things in your community and environment
- pictures that "record their life in today’s world and how they feel about it, or how they want others to feel about it, as it relates to their understanding of the theme."
- Make your pictures artistic by:
- Different compositions in your photos – close-ups, strange angles, interesting shapes.
- Manipulate images
Step 2: Descriptions of Pictures
- Create a new folder in your comm tech folder called "save and delete"
- save your three pictures as your last name and a number (ex. Nolan1, Nolan2, Nolan3)
- In Microsoft Word, create a document with descriptions of each picture.
(1) a title and
(2) a short explanation* about why it has been chosen…..why it is important….. how is the theme being represented? (*Don’t list what we can see for ourselves in the picture; tell us instead about what we see – how do you feel about it? Why is it important to you, your community, your culture? How do you want your viewers to feel about it?)

Assignment 5: Remembrance Day Booklet
Each student will make a brochure.
The brochure must include the order of events:
- Introduction – Master of Ceremonies
- Prayer
- Opening Remarks
- Nunatsiavut Government
- Nain Inuit Community Government
- Last Post, minute of silence, Reveille
- Act of Remembrance
- Flanders Fields
- Pinning of the Poppies
- Poem and Poetry Contest
- O’Canada
- Closing
You can use a template already made in Word by going to file>new> then search brochure.

You can try to create you own
Evaluation:
- Remembrance Day theme (2 marks)
- Used the list of events provided on the Weebly (2 marks)
- Proper use of photos (organized, good quality, not too many, etc.) (3 marks)

- That involves a guess on what technology would be like in the future
- Should be before the year 2000

Your goal is to create a Prezi surrounding an issue of your choice in Nain.
Part 1:
- Choose a partner, or work alone
- Choose an issue in Nain that appeals to you (Ex. Some of the issues could include: child abuse, substance abuse, rape, suicide, and lack of interest in attending school)
- Make an account on Prezi (DO NOT FORGET IT and SHARE WITH YOUR PARTNER)
- Explore Prezi and understand how it works
Part 2:
- Gather information about your issue including:
